Director of Business Development

The Director of Business Development is responsible for leading Aeromag’s growth strategy by identifying, evaluating, and securing new business opportunities in both core and emerging areas. This includes expanding the company’s footprint in existing territories, maintaining and renewing existing contracts, building strategic partnerships, and pursuing diversification opportunities. The role is instrumental in aligning external opportunities with Aeromag’s internal capabilities, innovation priorities, and long-term vision.
Business Development Strategy
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to support Aeromag’s growth in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
- Develop and implement market intelligence tools and reports to support strategic decision-making, identify growth opportunities, and monitor competitive trends. Leverage market intelligence to identify emerging trends, client needs, and opportunities for expansion of various services, including technology, recycling, and environmental solutions.
- Lead the development of growth strategies focused on maintaining our current contracts and winning new contracts with airport authorities, airlines, and other key stakeholders.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including airport executives, airline partners, industry groups, and municipalities.
- Represent Aeromag at industry conferences, trade shows, and strategic meetings to promote the brand and identify new business opportunities.
- Manage high-level customer relationships to ensure client satisfaction and foster contract renewal opportunities.
Contract Development and Negotiation
- In collaboration with finance, lead proposal development, bid submissions, and presentations for major contracts and RFPS.
- Negotiate commercial agreements in collaboration with legal, finance, and operations teams.
- Monitor industry trends, pricing models, and contract benchmarks to support competitive positioning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Reporting
- Collaborate closely with the operations, finance, Legal, and Marketing teams to align business development activities with internal capabilities and objectives.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIS) to evaluate the effectiveness of business development initiatives.
- Provide regular updates to executive leadership on pipeline activity, deal status, and strategic opportunities.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills, with a proven ability to develop trusted executive relationships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to translate market trends into actionable business strategies.
- Knowledge of contracting, client management, and public procurement processes.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, commerce, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships, including leadership roles.
- Experience in the aviation, transportation, environmental services, or industrial sectors are preferred.
- Bilingual (English/French)
- Ability to work with business intelligence (BI) tools and various internal systems to support reporting and decision-making.
