Main Responsibilities

The Operations Manager is a key individual responsible for all operational functions of the deicing center. This position serves as a resource for all employees and assumes full station responsibilities in the absence of the General Manager. The Operations Manager maintains rigorous follow-up on all operational tasks to ensure optimal results and support the growth of the business in a professional and safe manner. This position ensures that all procedures and standards are followed by employees. At all times, the Operations Manager demonstrates leadership, shows respect toward employees and colleagues, and leads by example.

Management of operations related to deicing, YUL contracts, and maintenance:

  • Ensure that standards and procedures related to operations, safety, the environment, and the maintenance of facilities and equipment are followed.
  • Plan and supervise daily work assignments.
  • Ensure that all daily inspections, glycol tests, and other checks are completed and properly followed up on.
  • Monitor and follow up on the ordering, storage, and disposal of deicing fluids.
  • Monitor weather conditions and ensure sufficient staffing is in place to respond to any event.
  • Prepare various operational and environmental reports.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety policies and standards.
  • Manage accidents and incidents, including on-site investigations, follow-up, and the preparation of safety reports.
  • Manage resources according to budgeted hours and operational requirements.
  • Oversee billing forms and update files related to ADHOC operations.
  • Draft memos and notices related to operations.
  • Participate in weekly or monthly meetings with the General Manager, Operations Supervisors, airline representatives, the OHS committee, etc.
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by management.

 

Management of station personnel:

  • Ensure the application of company policies (Code of Conduct, Attendance Policy, Uniform Policy, etc.).
  • Hire personnel assigned to deicing operations (interviews, hiring, and training).
  • Recognize employee performance, apply appropriate disciplinary measures, address complaints, and resolve interpersonal conflicts.
  • Evaluate performance and monitor the training and qualifications of all personnel, in collaboration with the Head Trainer.
  • Assist, as needed, with theoretical and practical training (initial and recurrent).

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of deicing operations
  • High school diploma or equivalent, along with one to three years of related experience or training, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, RAIC, and AVOP
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, Outlook)
  • Ability to work with a minimum supervision, follows procedures and executes instructions, while holding health and safety in the highest regard
