Aeromag is a private-held company specializing in aircraft deicing, management of deicing centres as well as the recovery and recycling of deicing fluids. Established in numerous airports in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, Aeromag is recognized for its environmental innovations. As part of our current growth, we seek a candidate to fill a Human Resources Manager USA role based in Newark, New Jersey (EWR). Reporting to the Human Resources Director, you will oversee all HR functions across our multiple deicing stations in the USA. This role ensures that HR operations are aligned with company objectives, legal requirements, and best practices to support the deicing operations. You will manage recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compliance, and training across geographically dispersed locations while contributing to employee engagement and development initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and staffing.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to meet staffing needs at various deicing stations, including seasonal hiring during peak deicing months.
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment processes: job postings, interviews, hiring, onboarding, and orientation of new employees.
  • Collaborate with station managers to anticipate and address workforce needs.
  • Employee relations and engagement.
  • Foster a positive and compliant work environment across all deicing stations.
  • Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
  • Implement employee engagement programs to enhance morale, productivity, and retention.
  • Compliance and safety.
  • Ensure all HR practices comply with federal, state, and local labor laws and safety regulations, especially OSHA standards related to deicing operations.
  • Lead and manage workers’ compensation claims and investigations in coordination with the safety department.
  • Oversee the administration of employee safety programs and support training related to safe deicing practices.
  • Performance management.
  • Oversee the performance appraisal process for all employees, ensuring consistency and alignment with operational goals.
  • Develop and implement improvement plans for underperforming employees, working closely with station managers.
  • Manage disciplinary actions as needed while maintaining compliance with company policies.
  • Compensation and benefits.
  • Administer employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
  • Ensure accurate payroll processing across stations in partnership with the finance team.
  • Regularly review and recommend adjustments to compensation plans to stay competitive in the industry.
  • HR data and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases.
  • Generate reports on HR metrics, such as turnover, time-to-hire, and training completion rates.
  • Analyze HR data to recommend improvements and support decision-making at the corporate level.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Human Resources management, preferably in multi-location or service-oriented industries.
  • Knowledge of federal and state labor laws, and OSHA regulations and experience managing compliance in operational settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage employees across multiple locations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to effectively manage conflict and employee relations issues.
  • Experience with HR information systems (HRIS) and payroll systems.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus.
