Efficiency and Expansion

Aeromag’s Changemakers September 15, 2025

The Portraits of Changemakers series highlights the inspiring individuals at Aeromag who, every day, actively contribute to change through their commitment and vision. Among them, Chris Cunningham, Operations Manager at our Manchester station (MAN), in the United Kingdom.

Chris joined the Aeromag family in the winter of 2020. He began his journey as an Operations Supervisor before moving into his current role as Operations Manager.

“Working at Aeromag means joining a family-run company where support and respect guide our actions every day. Becoming part of the team marked the beginning of a rewarding professional journey. I’m proud and grateful to be part of an organization that truly values its people.”

In the United Kingdom, deicing operations differ from those in Canada and the United States due to milder winter conditions, with primarily frost and ice, and only a few snow events each season. Currently, our British stations operate exclusively with gate deicing. However, with ongoing terminal and taxiway expansion projects at MAN, we are exploring other options to optimize operational efficiency and flexibility.

Retention, Expansion, and Operational Transformation

MAN has an impressive retention rate among its seasonal employees. Certain roles are adjusted during the summer to keep the team active and engaged. Summer 2025 marked the launch of the aircraft washing service, an initiative that extended work opportunities for staff until the return of the cold season.

The 2025-26 season represents a significant transformation period for MAN. With a fleet now counting 10 deicing trucks, the team is well prepared to meet increasing demand, including new contracts for wide-body aircraft. After the winter season, the airside base will be relocated to a new location at Manchester Airport, a strategic move aligned with current terminal and taxiway expansion projects, and one that further supports our operational growth.

To conclude, here’s Chris’s advice to new members of the deicing team: make the most of both the theoretical and practical training. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, even the simplest ones are often the most valuable. The leadership team is here to support you and help you build a successful career in the deicing industry. Have a great season!

Chris might use his determination and passion to reach new heights with his MAN team, but he isn’t the only changemaker at Aeromag. Discover the other fascinating portraits of the key players in our big family.
