On the radar June 25, 2025

The 2024-25 deicing season was the 31st and final season for Mario Lépine as President and CEO of Aeromag. It was a season filled with a sense of anticipation, though ultimately not so different from previous ones. What was different about his 31st deicing season was the increased attention Mario gave to strategic challenges and future projects. He wanted to ensure that the leadership transition would happen under the best possible conditions and that the team would be well prepared to ensure the company’s long-term success. As a result, strategic meetings became more frequent, with the goal of providing clear direction and supporting the next generation of leadership.

“Looking back on the past 31 years, I realize just how much Aeromag has evolved,” says Mario. Indeed, innovation has always been at the heart of the company’s development. From on-gate deicing with engines running to the integration of AI, along with a cutting-edge IT system and connections to trucks for precise mixture ratios, each advancement has allowed Aeromag to push the boundaries of operational efficiency.

Beyond technology, it’s the teams and talent that have played a crucial role in this transformation. The company’s structure has been rethought over time to keep up with its growth and meet new expectations. We have invested in staff development and training to ensure they can support change and drive innovation forward.

Over the years, Aeromag has been shaped by many challenges, but it is above all the company’s rapid growth that has truly tested our ability to adapt. Each new station represents a crucial milestone that requires strong and capable teams to support the company’s setup and development. It is Aeromag’s rigorous approach to recruitment and training that enables it to build a solid and sustainable foundation.

“I never would have imagined, back in 1994, that Aeromag would be operating in 17 stations around the world. It is a great joy to witness this achievement, driven by committed and passionate people. ”

As Mario passes the torch to his children, he is handing down more than a thriving company. He is also passing on the values that have guided Aeromag since its beginning – perseverance, pushing beyond limits, and the boldness to always aim higher. The future of the company looks bright, driven by a committed next generation and innovation projects already well underway. “Without giving too much away, I can say that artificial intelligence is opening up exciting possibilities, both operationally and environmentally,” says Mario. Other sustainable goals are also in development, reflecting Aeromag’s ongoing commitment to innovation. The company is in good hands and will continue to shine for many years to come.
