Reinventing Deicing with AI:
One Minute Gained, Millions Saved

News August 15, 2025

Since 2024, Aeromag and Vooban have been collaborating on a new project aimed at improving the efficiency of our deicing operations through artificial intelligence.

Since innovation is part of Aeromag’s DNA, we identified an opportunity to optimize our services and make them even more efficient. Every winter, our teams work diligently to ensure the safety of passengers and uphold flight punctuality. By leveraging data history from past seasons and the power of AI, we can generate analysis and recommendations to help automate and improve efficiency of certain controls.

The AI analyzes multiple variables in just seconds (temperature, ground time, remaining glycol volume, etc.) to suggest the most efficient maneuvers. Everything will be integrated into our internal operations management platform.

The completion of this project will generate significant gains on multiple levels. In terms of time, our tests have shown an average reduction of one minute per aircraft, which would represent approximately 140 hours of ground time saved annually, translating into an estimated savings of $1.2 million. For both environmental and economic standpoint, a more precise glycol dosage will reduce consumption by 3 to 10%, thereby contributing to a more responsible use of resources.

This project is part of a sustainable approach, enabling us to reduce both operating costs and our environmental impact.

Let’s go further together.
