On the Radar:
Recover, Recycle and Dispose

Mike Bey, Recycling Facility Coordinator

On the radar February 21, 2025

Recycling plays a crucial role in preserving our environment and conserving valuable resources. At Aeromag, we are committed to sustainable practices that reduce waste and minimize our environmental footprint.

Mike Bey, Recycling Facility Coordinator at our Cleveland (CLE) station, has been a valued member of the Aeromag family for 18 years. He oversees the operations of our RRD facility (Recover, Recycle, Dispose), which has been in operation since 2020. Mike collaborates with a dedicated team to recover used glycol and manage the airport’s stormwater system.

The CLE RRD facility focuses on the Recovery, Recycling, and Disposal of glycol-contaminated run-off, including both high and low concentrations. Additionally, we manage the airport’s stormwater system. Our RRD process recycles glycol back to a 50% mixture, which is then sent to our RRR facility in SYR, where the high concentrations are transformed into reusable deicing fluid. Both RRR facilities in SYR and YUL have the capability to produce pure glycol, contributing to the sustainable management of resources across the network.

We continue to pursue the full RRR circle in the coming years, with an unwavering commitment to sustainability. Through ongoing discussions with the city, we are hopeful for the construction of a new facility that will provide the necessary infrastructure to support full RRR activities. Currently, our recycling facilities are outdoors, which presents significant challenges, particularly during the cold winter months when recycling becomes much more difficult. The development of an indoor facility will greatly enhance our ability to maintain efficient operations year-round, regardless of weather conditions.

Let’s go further together.
