2022: A Year in Review
and the Outlook for 2023

President

News January 1, 2023
In 2022, the aviation industry had a much better year than the previous two. As a result, we have seen an increase in airport traffic. According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization, international tourism is on track to reach 65% of pre-pandemic levels by New Year’s Eve. I hope that passengers will exercise caution in 2023 so that the situation continues to improve. I would also like to acknowledge the outstanding work of our internal committee dedicated to the prevention of COVID-19. Congratulations to the team that put the program together and to all employees who have followed its preventive measures.

In the past year, we have been fortunate in terms of staff retention. As you already know, the labor shortage is hitting many sectors, including aviation. Aeromag must have found a winning recipe because the majority of seasonal employees come back year after year. In my opinion, this sense of belonging stems from offering great working conditions–which were further improved in the spring of 2022–but also to the respect and appreciation we show to all our teams.

Now, what does 2023 hold for us, as an industry and as a company? One thing is certain, Aeromag will always seek to go further in terms of innovation. Our collective intelligence allows us to come together and bring out ideas with great potential that can be developed. We must never lose sight of the fact that our industry’s future is linked to the planet’s future. Therefore, we will continue to work with our partners to better protect the environment. In our industry, this commitment is achieved through innovation. Examples include our electric de-icing trucks and our ability to recover, recycle and reuse glycol. In addition to innovation and sustainability, we will be putting a lot of emphasis on glycol recycling in 2023, since manufacturing this product has the most impact on our greenhouse gas emissions.

Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to wish a happy holiday season to the extended Aeromag family, that is to say, to our teams in our 17 stations and to our partners with whom we have the pleasure of collaborating every winter.
