On the Radar:
Employee Retention

On the radar August 15, 2024
Employee retention has a positive impact on corporate culture, promotes collaboration between teams and simplifies recruitment. Our Edmonton station (YEG) is a model in terms of employee retention.

With an impressive employee retention rate of 82% for the 2024-25 season, YEG has clearly understood the importance of creating a sense of belonging within the group and of valuing each role to build a close-knit team. The management team encourages mutual respect and support, with the aim of developing employees who will grow within the company.

Challenges and Adrenaline

Seasonal positions can sometimes present a recruitment challenge. Surprisingly, it’s a factor that doesn’t seem to impact YEG’s employee retention. “Employees like the flow and intensity of operations, as well as the downtime to bond and discuss new strategies as a team before heading out into the cold again.”, say YEG’s Operations Managers. Employees appreciate the leadership responsibilities entrusted to them.

Working in the aviation industry is full of excitement, challenge and adrenaline. These are the criteria sought by true aviation enthusiasts who choose to pursue a career in this field. Aeromag offers a range of unique positions that provide new work experience every day. The daily challenges require close collaboration between teams to ensure that the common goal is achieved: ensuring the safety of passengers, employees and aircraft during deicing operations. It’s an appreciated value that contributes to the loyalty of employees who return to deicing, season after season.

Leadership

Aeromag believes that leadership must be taught and encouraged. An internal training program for management staff was recently created to define leadership expectations. This type of training allows team development, builds trust among members and thus generates a sense of belonging. We believe that investing in employee retention is essential to maintaining a motivated and competent team, thus ensuring the company’s long-term success.

Let’s go further together.
